About this map

This map shows active fire detections identified by NASA's Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) using thermal infrared sensors aboard the VIIRS and MODIS satellites.

Each point represents a location where a satellite detected a heat signature consistent with an active fire during its overpass. The markers do not represent the size or perimeter of a wildfire, and multiple detections may relate to the same fire.

Detection confidence is classified by NASA as Low, Nominal or High. All observation times are shown in UTC.
